Cupping Therapy is an effective remedy commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Muscle tissue is pulled up through suction applied glass, plastic or bamboo cups.
The suction causes a negative pressure and the underlying skin is raised (or sucked) partway into the cup. Patients usually feel a tight pulling sensation in the area where the cups have been placed. Cups are left in place for approximately 5-15 minutes or can be moved around in a gliding motion.
Rather than applying pressure to muscles, a local suction is created on the skin to draw the skin, muscles & tissues upward.
The benefit of cupping is to enhance circulation, relieve pain remove heat, address adhesions from scar tissue & to pull out toxins that can linger in the body’s tissues. Cups may be left in pace or with the addition of an oil the cups can be utilized using a gliding massage. Each treatment is unique to your specific needs.
