CORE STRENGTHENING Workshop on The Yoga Wall

Understanding how the body moves and creates movement with the muscles is a huge part of staying fit and developing a SOLID CORE.

The major muscles that move, support, and stabilize your spine are called the muscles of the Core.

Having flat Abs is only one benefit or Core strengthening.

A powerful centre makes you better at any sport or movement.

A strong Core not only make it easier to do more physical activities, it helps improve overall mobility and strength in the hips, thighs, gluteus and prevents lower back stress.

Weak Core muscles can lead to more fatigue, less endurance, poor posture, and is often involved with lower back pain and injury.

This 90 minute guided class will demonstrate and have students participate in various stretches and holding positions – focused on:

  • developing an understanding of your own body and its strength
  • muscles of the Core and what movements they perform
  • what positions/poses are best for overall Core Development
  • the relationship between the glutes and hamstrings with the Core
  • the relationship between the quad muscles and the Core
  • how posture plays a key role with the Core
  • improved balance through Core stregthening
  • signs of a weak Core
